Solved Hard disk not detected during Windows 7 installation.

For now follow ThrashZone's directions. He has been around a lot longer than me. Then if you are still stuck, we can proceed with the driver issue. Normally you would not need to do the driver step. Like I said, I have never had to do it. In the mean time, if you could post your PC manufacture and complete model number, I will go ahead and find the driver just in case.

The product link for mainboard is
Mercury-pc.com

HDD manufacture and model is : Segate ST3250310AS

Most of what you questioned are in your mother board bios settings,
On powering up you get a flash screen showing the options,
Usually F2 is a common way to get into the bios
Could also be the Delete key

Check the Boot section and also security and advanced sections for anything that shows EUFI Only or Secure boot/ CSM..
Post any pictures you wish too for opinions on existing settings.

I have some capture of bios and partition wizard free edition bootable in which my HDD shown. I try to recover hdd by rebuilding mbr from minitool partition wizard but don't got success.

Hi and thanks
You're trying to install on 46.9 gb disk 0 ?
If so delete that partition
Make the entire disk Unallocated
You can use mini tool to resize the disk to 50gb's after the install

Before the install and you're shut down completely
Remove all other connected drives except for the one you want to install 7 on
See what happens.

Use Partition Wizard to delete the drive to unallocated space, then create a Primary partition out of the entire drive, mark it Active, Align it and format it, then try to install 7 again. All can be done by right clicking on the drive and using the drop down menu.

And please disconnect those other hard drives if you are trying to install windows on this PC, if that is another PC then disregard that.

If another PC is seeing the hard drive then I guess we can assume that the hard drive is OK.

It`s odd (however not unusual) that the bios can see it but the windows installer can`t.

Your board is old and it may indeed need sata drivers for the controller during the install of Windows 7

All this talk has made me want to install windows on a PC :D Who am I kidding, no I don`t :)

Important question, has windows ever been installed on this PC using a Sata hard drive ?

I see it has 2 sata ports controlled by the North Bridge chipset.

2 SATA ports (SATA1~2) are controlled by ICH7 North Bridge

When I try to apply any operation from partition wizard then system goes automatically restart. Tried to apply operation "mark as active, primary and all time system restarted. After this not able HDD during Windows installation.

I know that`s notwhat you want to hear but..

Which computer is restarting now ??? The same one or do you have the drive on another PC ?

So you`re saying the hard drive is not seen by windows on 2 seperate computers ? And yet the bios sees the drive on 2 seperate computers ?

I would just chuck that drive in the trash, this will teach you to backup your data from now on.

i have a Dell Optiplex 9020. it came without a hard drive & i installed a 1TB SATA HD but im having a problem installing Win 7 32bit.

The Win7 is on a USB flash drive. when i try to install it, it shows NO Hard Drive detected but in the BIOS settings, the HD does appear.

i have tried the "list Disc" option using the command prompt but that only shows the USB flash drive.

MSmoorad, you should start a new thread as this one is 2 years old and it is marked as solved.

Does it shows all disk properties on BIOS?
Is it set as SATA or IDE?

Did you check the disk cables?

During installation, did you deleted all partitions?
