Hard Drive and Back Up issues

SO my computer was running slow and then i closed it and when I went to open and start up my computer and these screens popped up:

so then i finally tried to fix it and it i got it to go to The Hp Recovery Manager and i tried to back up my files but it kept saying that it was an error. but i don't want to restore my computer and lose all my files . so I know a lot about computer but i at a stand still because I've tried to image my computer and it didn't work.
-But now when i start it up it goes to Start Windows image and just stays there or
Launch Start up Repair (recommended)
Start Normally
-and that's when i run into the error message once I try to backup the files


Computer Specs

• HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
• had it since 06/24/2011

So I'm lost at what todo any help would be great, Thanks

Well if that is as far as it gets (tried a safe mode?) then I would be inclined to get a bootable Ubuntu disk set the BIOS to boot from the opto - don't in stall it just run it.

Once in Ubuntu you can usually open up the C: drive and copy data to sticks etc.
