Solved Hard Drive Capacity Meter Color Change

Hey all, long time lurker first time poster. This site has helped me change many an icon and other simple customization tasks so I thought I would ask this here. I'm trying to change the color of the meter that shows how full a hard drive is. It seems like it should be simple, but many things never are, and this is one item I haven't been able to find any info on but I know its possible through windowblinds (however, I don't want to run a 3rd party app just for an appearance).

I'm attaching a pic in case I'm not clear about what I mean. I have a very simple black and white theme going on and the light blue bar just kind of messes it up for me. Is this possible with a registry edit or file replacement? Possibly a setting I've missed? Any and all help is appreciated, thanks.

Yes that is possible to change that is just a image.

To help you out I need to know if you are using a third-party custom theme or the default Aero theme, I need to know this so I can give you the right image number.

If it is a third-party custom theme post a link to it.

Nope, no 3rd party themes or apps, just some downloaded icons and some registry tweaks to apply them. If it's just an image, its probably similar to changing the start menu background, right? I tried to do that following a guide (probably from here) but couldn't get it to apply, it just broke my aero.msstyles file, although I'm sure that was my error somewhere along the line.

But yes, default aero with personalized touches, nothing too wacky. Thanks for the help.

OK when you edit the .msstyles it becomes a custom theme and you need to do 1 of these 2 ways of Enabling custom themes for it to work.

But you should never use the original aero.msstyles to do your editing so you do not corrupt it, you should start a new theme from scratch, look at Post #38 of this thread http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/135985-start-menu-color-change-4.html#post1358071 it will show you how to start a new custom theme.

That image you want to edit is #659, use this tutorial to edit that image (it is for the taskbar buttons that you can use it using that 659 number) http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/266336-taskbar-button-change-color-orange-flashing-button.html

alright, one last semi related question because you are the most knowledgeable person I've come across, windows explorer background... its blazing white. I know I can switch to a classic theme and change it, but I'd much prefer not to. I know its possible with style builder and windowblinds, probably other apps, but I would really like to not use them. Is it possible with just restorator/gimp or registry edit? If not, I can live with it, but I'd like to squint less so making this gray would be awesome. I've scoured the internet and all info comes back to either switching from aero or using 3rd party apps.

I'm sorry but that Explorer background can only be changed with Windows Style Builder and I will take your word on it for windowblinds(I have never used it)

I have Windows Style builder and I could change that color for you and post it here, it may be best you get all your changes done first and then post your .msstyles and then I can make the change, if I do it now it will change all your image numbers making it harder to find things for you.

That is looking very good, I'm still willing to make that change for you it would only take less than a minute all you need to do is zip up the theme .msstyles and post it here and in probably 1 min. I'll post it back here with the change.

Alrighty then, if you're so willing. I do appreciate it. You mentioned it would mess the image numbers up, is that a guarantee? I've saved backups of everything so its no big deal, but I'm just curious in case I go to touch something up later. Thanks much

Here you go, switch to a different theme logoff/logon then replace the .msstyles.

Yes WSB changes the #s, the .msstyles uses the same # image in different places and WSB makes it 1 image for each place.
Is it to dark? If so I can change it.

Its actually perfect save for 1 thing, now I see that the details text is extremely light with this background. I'll attach a screenshot. I just went through all the font settings and nothing seems to change it, is this possible with a simple fix? Sorry to keep bothering you with questions.

I can fix that in just a few seconds with Windows style builder, it allows you to change text colors really easy in most areas.

Would you like that in black?

I have made my theme using Avi's Style Builder and seem to have lost the border round the Capacity meter bar.
Does anyone of you know how I can get it back please.

Try the image at Buttons, Boxes & Controls > Progress Bars > Normal > TransparentBar > <2>

Please next time you start a new thread that way there's less confusion.
