Hard Drive Help

I Just reinstalled windows 7 clean... I set bio's to AHCI mode.. Now in Windows 7 I can only see one Hard Drive under the Computer Tab... but when I go to the Device Manager it show both?? Any help would be Great Thx

I'm having this problem too with the Windows 7 Ultimate RTM. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm also having the same problem. I've tried changing the sata cable, using a different sata power cable, disable and enabling the drive, also used a different sata port on the mobo, none of these things worked. I tried playing around with a couple jumper settings but have no idea if those are significant with sata drives??

Does the drive have a drive letter assigned to it Disk Management? If not, then the tutorial below will help show you how to add a drive letter to the missing drive in Computer to have it added hopefully.

Hey Shawn, I went through that tutorial you posted but I got stopped at step 5, I wasn't given the option to Change Drive Letter and Paths. In my case windows 7 was a clean install on a brand new system that has never had another OS.

In the computer managment screen the bar above my drive is black instead of blue, I'm not sure what the significance of that might be but if you could shed some more light on this for me I would appreciate it.

I believe the black bar is unpartitioned space.
Right click it and make a partition.
Once it is formated you should be able to see it.
Remember doing this erases all data on that drive.

If it is like that below with "Unallocated" as Slithernet posted above, then that will add it to Computer.

I got mine sorted last night. A drive letter is exactly what was needed for it. However, I couldn't assign a letter from the Computer Management initially; the option was greyed out.

I'm not 100% sure on how I got it to be a clickable option, but the only significant thing I did was give my new user account full permissions on the data.

i am not sure but does it say "System Reserved" (its called that in the RTM) in the Disk management mmc snap-in?...
in that case dont touch it...
its used for startup repair and other things where access to that partition is not needed...
