Solved hard drive losing space rapidly (170gb over past week)

I was baffled to find my main drive with 80mb space left after freeing up 170gb of space last week. This has happened repeatedly, WinDirStat can't figure out what's taking up all the space, I've run disk cleanup, defragged and ran multiple different virus scans, all to no avail. Literally my entire useful hard drive contents has now been moved to an external drive, all else deleted/cleaned and the entire 750gb drive is still somehow full!


Its severely affecting the performance at a time when I desperately need a functioning laptop, and would like to avoid a clean install or hard drive replacement! Help would be much appreciated

Its your system restore points. Delete all points then make a new one in case needed.
If that does not do the trick, run your anti virus scan, then download and run a scan with the free Malwarebytes.
You can also reduce the amount of space that the restore points can take.

Wasnt the restore points, found an unusual cause.....my antivirus (norton endpoint) has 300gb of stuff in quarantine! Which is a problem for another forum...thanks anyway

What about the shadowstorage. Run this command:

vssadmin list shadowstorage
