I have a custom built computer (details are on my profile), but I'm having trouble getting my secondary hard drive, a 1TB HDD, to be recognized by Windows Explorer. My SSD is recognized as the C:, but the HDD doesn't show up at all. Device manager recognizes it as "ST31000524AS ATA Device", which is exactly what it is. Device properties claim that it is working properly. I found a post on this forum that seemed to relate and suggested initializing the disk. I did that, and the drive's status changed from Not initialized to Online, but it still doesn't come up in Windows Explorer. When I go to the Volumes tab on the HDD, it gives the following details:

Disk: Disk 0
Type: Basic
Status: Online
Partition style: Master Boot Record (MBR)
Capacity: 953869 MB
Unallocated space: 953869 MB
Reserved space: 0 MB

Under Volume, there is absolutely nothing.

I have tried updating drivers, but am told the best one is already installed. I've tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions?

I actually just solved it. I just had to format the drive and assign it a drive name in Disk Management.

Welcome Dralshya,

Now you need to format the drive in Disk Management ;)
