I want to upgrade my desktop from XP to 7 Ultimate so it is compatible with my 2 laptops. I have never wiped out a hard drive before. Does anyone know of a good "how to" guide I can follow? I Googled it, but thought you pros would know of something better. I already have the 7 Ultimate software and an external to save my existing file too.

Thanks

The easiest way is to just start the install and when prompted let "windows 7 install" format the disk.
It will probably save the old XP to a folder called Windows old but all you need to do is delete it after the install.

Thanks everyone.
I ran into a major problem with my laptop yesterday (see thread), so I am putting this project on hold until I make sure it is fixed. But I will be sure to post back on this thread when I get to this project.
