harddisk crashed,no backup or windows7 cd. How do i re-install w/out?

I have to check the HP site to find out how they have organised their drivers. Someone having an HP machine familiar with the HP site should be able to guide you better. You only have to choose the latest driver for each device listed if it has many for the same device description. Under network you may have two or even three devices and if so you have to download the driver for each device. Just a general guideline.

( In the DELL website one can ferret out the latest driver for each category of device. If one clicks show all it will show all the drivers for that device since it initial release)

Go to the device manager , find out the devices and check whether they are enabled.

Make sure the wireless switch is turned on.

Then look in Device Manager to see what is listed under Network Adapters drivers for the wireless adapter model, or you may know this already from the System Specs. You can google the model for Win7 drivers. If not, you can trace the exact make and model device by its Hardware Identification.

Make sure you have the correct PC model on the HP Support Downloads webpage. You want the wireless LAN driver. There may be more than one to try. If you tell us the exact HP model we can help you find it.

You are correct that you only want the wireless driver (or ethernet to connect by wire first if necessary) until you do all of your Important and Optional Windows Updates which will deliver more drivers. Only then would I import any others which are missing, from the PC's Support Downloads webpage.

ok back to fixing this thing! model is Hp pavillion dv6, . Ill now go back and try the steps again, see how it goes.

oh and i bought it from my swedish friend so you'll have to select that as the country on the HP page.

ahhhhh! No need to worry it is now on the internet! I tried one of the other lan network downloads on the hp site and it is now working fine.
