Hey everyone, new here so please be patient! :D

Just quickly wanted to ask whether anyone has had any problems or issues with Windows 7 on a computer similar to these specs?

Asus P5P41D motherboard, latest BIOS
Core 2 Duo Q8300 45nm
4gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
1gb XFX 4870
160gb sata seagate HD

Looking to complete a new build for myself, and am nervously apprehensive of the windows 7 install, as I've already tried it on an Athlon II based system with DDR3 with ABSOLUTELY NO success whatsoever. Freezing on install which, after a lot of research, seems to be happening randomly to people. It's a windows 7 64 bit home premium OEM disk and I have no reason to believe it's faulty. I've also heard DDR3 isn't particularly great in terms of compatibility with windows 7 and some of AMDs chips.

Thanks in advance!

Having never used that hardware, I cannot give a definite answer. I have yet to see a case in which Windows 7 could not be installed after going through the solutions. Read through this post for installation problems' solutions.
Keep looking around, maybe someone else can give you a better answer.

Hi and welcome to sevenforums

I think you are going to find most ppl here friendly so dont worry. There isnt anything in your specs that should be problematic, but I suspect gien your experience you are worried. I have heard of bad 'real' 'legit' dvd's. Yes 64bit is more problematic, yes some AMD's dont play nice with DDR3 but the percentage is miniscule. The only thing you didnt list in specs is PSU, which can cause some random, problems.
