Has money banked but no nvidia dx 11 cards out?

Please, hold that opinion. What features are going into the 480? All the features that are in current ATI cards. So who's trying to squeeze too much into a card. Not to mention that ATI right now has the fastest card on the market, and if the leaked 480 specs are correct, ATI will be having the fastest card on the market for the next year.

Yes maybe,but ati have had the fasyest card before specs wise,,but in games it never matched nvidias,,because the way it worked slowed it up..Trust me nvidia will have the best cards trust me

Uhh, not really. If ATI has the fastest card, it means it will perform fastest, and will thus play all those games better than some gtx295. But, Nvidia cards do have less problems, theyre like Rolls Royce compared to Saab

eh..... not exactly chances are nvidia has lost his round.. the preforance is what counts and ati already has that.... if nivida can't match it they lose

I'm holding out my opinions till March 29th. It all depends on the 480 launch.

In the meantime, the 5830 was just launched, and it's okay for its price point. I ran the math and it sits about in between the 5770 and 5830 in FPS/$ ratio.

they've lost so many potential customers due to the delay, even the ''die hard'' NV nuts are giving in & going ATI..

there are still a few issues, but on the whole ATI have delivered some good drivers (10.2 BETA onwards), so more ppl are buying in to the 5 series frenzy & experiencing much less heartache than on launch.

this 5 series architecture is EXCELLENT though, there's no escaping that fact.... NV do have a history of producing more power than ATI (chip for chip), but the ''Evergreen'' ATI chips are UBER powerful yet UBER cool....., you can crank these things up with decent cooling & results are outstanding.

(my 5970 idles @ 36c & loads out @ 55c (about 62 on furmark), but that's brilliant.)

NV cards have had an excellent run of compatibility bliss..... & driver support has been great (maybe the performance & stability doesn't change that much, but they're thick & fast with the new revisions, see a bug / remove it )

but its looking like the GTX480 is gonna be on par with the 5870 (maybe slightly in front), but the pricing is never gonna reflect that..... which is one of the reasons NV will suffer..

the other is the heat issue with these ''Fermi'' cards, its looking like NV have had to clock the cards lower than initially intended b/c of serious heat increases they were seeing with the required voltage.

these chips will be HOT!!, so if the pricing strategy doesn't change, they'll (hypothetically) be selling a top end card comparable to the 5870 which will run far hotter & cost MUCH more.. :sarc:

if they had released these at the height of ATI's nightmare period after launch where RMA's were coming in like spam mail, then they'd of made a killing, no matter how hot they were or what they cost...

i too would of dropped my card in the bin & bought ''Fermi'' (believe me, ive had more than my fair share of crap with my 5 series card ), but its getting better.

First off, the Geforce GTX 470 will end up 20-25% faster than the previous-generation Geforce GTX 285. That would put it somewhere between the Radeon HD 5850 and the Radeon HD 5870. Unfortunately, the price is rumoured to be $500 at this early stage, which is simply astronomical considering the competition. The faster Geforce GTX 480 will retail at $600, and should end up faster than the much cheaper HD 5870, though by very little. Needless to say, the HD 5970 will end up much faster than the GTX 480. The GTX 480 is expected to have similar power consumption to the HD 5970, closing in on the PCI-e barrier of 300W.

I believe that the stats stated in that article come from another article originally posted on another website who's name escapes me that I read a couple days ago. According to the article, they fudged the numbers a bit to keep their sources safe. So I'm waiting still.

if thats true... well... nvidia could be in quite a bit of trouble..... but it would push ati to work on the 5990 which i would reallly like to see

None of the rumoured prices are correct. Nvidia confirmed that they've not released any prices to retailers yet, and power/temp wise they're supposed to be similar to the GTX285.

I was looking forward to a single GPU that was significantly faster than the 5870, but if there is even an inkling of fire amidst all the rumor smoke, then that's obviously not going to happen.


However without tangible proof, all this speculation is ultimately pointless.

No ati have had better specs before 480 stream processors to nvidias 240 and the nvidia cards out performed ati,.
All im saying is nvidia seem to make a smooth card that runs fastest with what its got ATI seeem to overload there cards hence why there so many problems.
Nvidia is a must for me because of this and ati cards are to problematic for me.
That is a big reason why nvidia push there prices up as ati fail with there cards.
It be a silly man to jump from nvdia to ati .But each to his own

What do you mean by ATI DX11 is rushed? It works just fine, in all the DX11 games today.

From the leaked box specs that I saw, it seems the G100 will be using about as much power as a 5970, the new 4gb model. It better perform as well.

How are some people Ie Like you shunksmash getting 36c on idle and 55c on load?

I am 46C 22% fan speed and 58c 45% fan speed ,what the heck same with my cpu with people at 25C while mine are 34-36% at idle

Aren't these new NV chips more focused on oil research and medical such and such? You know really intense tasks that use the power of the graphics card for it? instead of using it to play video games.
ATI works for me, its quiet and i hear my hard drive more & case fans then the ATI card.

I don't want to say, but that's pretty poor if their flagship DX11 product only does a little better than the 5870 (looking at the graph, the 5870 matches it in several places). They only showed Tessellation benchmarks too, which everyone knows is where Fermi is best, I want to see live action gaming benchmarks, raw FPS vs FPS show down.
