Hi. When I log in to my laptop I log in (with password) as a Guest. I don't know how I managed to do that, but it's not what I want. I should log in as an Adminstrator, but as a Guest, I cannot make any changes to bring that about. I'm trying to use netplwiz. I'm trying to change account type, but I'm asked for an administrator password, but there is no place to type it in, even if I knew it. (It's probably not set, I imagine). So, how do I get to log in as Administrator? I cannot set up an elevated command prompt.Thanks.

EDIT: In Computer Management I might be able to set a passsword for build in Adminstrator, but there are dire warnings about loosing stuff.

Just a follow up. I've got things sorted, mainly because by going into Safe Mode I could sign in as an administrator and (no doubt using the in-built Adminstrator Account) proceeding to create an Administrator Account. I did manage to create a new User Account with administrator privaledges and got so far as copying into the new desktop (assoiciated with the new account) the desktop I had. But, in the end I found the old account (using netplwiz) not associated as User or anything. I simply associated it with Administrators and Users, and now I log in to the account I was always using. I've no idea why I ended up with a guest account. I'm sure it was originally an administrator account. So, I can now delete any Guest Account as well as the new account I made.

The guest account you don't create or delete, you activate / deactivate it.
Now that you have a administrator account, go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts and select Manage another account.
My suggestion is to delete all others accounts (settings and data) and then create another administrator account, with password to be used as a emergency door in the case your profile settings gets corrupted.
