Solved Have to press each key twice to have letter/number go on screen

Our cat jumped on the keyboard of our Insprion 5010 and after that we have to press each key twice to have it come up on the screen. I know she must have hit some sequence that cause it to do this. I have nothing exterior connected to it (printer,mouse, ect) and have turned it off. It still does it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It might be language related, some language layouts require a second keystroke. Do you have the language bar showing at the bottom of the screen?

Look in here, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/86204-keyboard-input-language-add-remove.html, to see if anything seems odd (the default is set to something other than you desire)

I'm suggesting that you look at the tutorial as a reference to examine your regional configuration.

The solution might be somethng else, but that's where I'd start looking.

Try another keyboard.

Til then you can try the on-screen keyboard - type Keyboard in Start Search box.

Perhaps you can recover your settings using a recent Restore Point(RP). You'll have to select a RP that was created prior to when the keyboard issue first occurred.

This only affects system files and settings - personal data is not affected. The next Windows Update (WU) will bring Windows back up-to-date if needed. You might want to fire up a manual WU after restoring the RP (and the issue is resolved).
