Simply downloading a program (MBAM* or any other legitimate security application) would not break your internet access or browser.

Did you run a scan with MBAM and it detected and removed malware?
Some types of malware (and the removal thereof) can result in problems with internet access.
This can often be repaired with the help of malware experts and the guided use of special tools.

There is only one version of the MBAM installer; there are not separate 32-bit or 64-bit versions.
That particular message likewise suggests the possibility of infection.

Since you are having problems with "many programs not working", it sure sounds as if you could be infected.

I would suggest getting formal, guided help from a trained malware expert, either here or at another reputable computer disinfection forum.

*MBAM = Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Thank you,

Just curious, did you get this from the Malwarebytes site or did you d/l it from a file hosting site. If you d/l ed it from anywhere else aside from the official site, you may have gotten several PUP's that are causing the problem. Best to steer clear of file hosting sites.

Malwarebytes free is an on demand scanner & would not interfere with web access.

It might be wise to d/l & run AdwCleaner and see what it finds.
