I just bought an SSD drive and a 1TB WD Black hard drive and reinstalled windows.

Im having strange problems however. Ill list the things ive noticed are happening with my install now.

1. Trash Wont Empty - this just started happening all of a sudden.
2. When installing programs the Calculating Disk Space part takes like a full minute
3. When i went to install DirectX it took like 30 min to install. The installer would go SUPER slow then in small bursts would install like 1/10 of the installation. Overall it took WAY to long to install.

I have Windows Running on the SSD
Some Programs running on SSD
Some programs including my desktop on the 1TB drive.

Also my harddrive only supports 3gb Sata atm (ordered new one today)

Please tell me what i need to show you to narrow this problem down.

EDIT: Trash is being a real problem...ive tried everything. Disabled all programs running in Task Manager and services that arent needed. Seems to get stuck on Calculating Speed and eventually the window closes. If i try to open the trash and empty from inside trash it stops responding and locks up windows

Your desktop is running from the 1TB, care to explain that?

Get CCleaner from piriform.com and run a registry scan, see if it scares up anything unusual.

Do this from elevated (in admin) command prompt: SFC /scannow [verifies windows install files are good]

Malware/Virus scan lately?

You have TRIM enabled on the new SSD, see tutorials on that here, if you do not know about that.
....and never defrag the SSD.

Those are good starting points.

I figured it out...one of my hard drives was corrupt and causing the problem.

thanks!
