I just installed Win 7 on my new pc...and also not well acquainted with this OS. I started to download some programs which is usual with a new installation and one came across called HD Media Player. I assumed that this is Win 7 version of windows media player so I downloaded it. IS this the new correct version or was I duped? Haven't used it yet.

Novel8 just a thought.
Did you complete all the Windows Updates when you did a fresh install?

If you did I would recommend using WMP for a while and see if it meets your needs. It's built into Windows 7.
If you need more whs recommendation has works for many for years.

Yes, I did clicked on windows updates. I believe this program came with another called something like "Optimizer". I realized it hacked itself to this player and deleted it.
