Built new rig Mon night and shows problem I can't understand. It's an i7-2600 w/Z68 board, and OCZ Vertex3 60GB SSD.
I installed Win7 Premium with no extra's, then removed some components I never use, yet Windows is reporting that I only have 13GB of free space available of 60GB.
I added the MB, LAN, Vid drivers, and still show only 17GB unused. I added up Program Files, Program Files (x86), User, Program Data, and Windows folders as shown in their properties and only arrive at a total of approx 13GB.

What gives?

Only running 60GB because rig is dedicated gamer and the only things that ever go on this drive is Win7 and at max, three games. Have never had more than 45GB on my game machines ever. Speed is critical, not storage size. All other computer chores are done on gaming computers as they get retired and have larger drives installed.

If you don't want to use system restore, turning it off will free up some space.

Rather than eliminate an extremely useful and sometimes life-saving tool such as System Restore, then simply reduce the amount of space reserved for System Restore. 2 GB will at least give you some restore capability.

Turn Hibernate off:
go to an elevated command prompt and
enter following:
POWERCFG -H OFF
EXIT

Restart your computer.

Command Prompt - Elevated
How to Open a Elevated Command Prompt in Windows 7

Reduce the amount of space used for paging purposes:
:orb: | type Advanced System | Advanced tab | Settings button in the Performance section | Advanced tab | Change button in the Virtual Memory section | Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives

You can either get drastic and choose no paging file or select a size to your liking.

Use CCleaner. Link in my sig.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
System restore is disabled on this rig, and every one I've built for myself in the last 10yr.

I found the answer 5min before you answered karl lol; Yes it's a MASSIVE hibernate file and an even larger pagefile!!!
Already disabled hibernate by command prommpt, but have another question : Since rig is exclusively for use by me, and exclusively for gaming, and has 16GB memory, can I disable pagefile? Or would be better to move to another HD, or just set small
