Hi again, so i originally posted here on monday the 23, had installed 7 updates from windows, and then system rebooted, upon reboot system said it hard drive inconsistencies and needed to chk. confirmed hhd with tech from HP there 2 hr test said it was all good. then windows ran sfc, with no errors or repairs noted. windows then loaded an came up, was advised here to restore to previous point and install updates 1 per which I did, opened browser and ran programs before rebooting and installing next update. Thru all off these updates, windows update showed no installation issues. Never had another issue until this morning, then had system running, performed restart, and windows consistency concern came up again, seems to like to freeze at 1 sec left before starting scan, held spacebar to skip, scheduled sfc from with windows and restarted, sfc ran, again no issues noted, windows loaded normally. restarted again without issues and came here for advice. And just for added pressure in my world I have 5 days warranty left on my laptop.

ok, have run the long lest on seatools for dos, came back ok. my hdd is a seagate so I guess i have 4 days for for it to fail again. seems to me that running sfc corrects the problem without saying that it found a problem. any way to recreate this problem or just usage ?

Hi -

Given 4 days left on warranty, I would reinstall Windows 7 at this time. A fresh OS would help better determine if hardware is faulty.

Ironically, I had similar experience with my HP dv7-1020us laptop - HDD. I got similar messages as you have reported. HP said all OK. Within 6 months (after warranty expired), the HDD went and had to be replaced.

Reinstall Windows 7. Upon reaching Desktop, allow ALL Windows Updates in -

www.update.microsoft.com

See if same problems occur.

Thank You, have been investigating new drives, the hoops required for the warranty are not enjoyable, just talking about warranty is painful with them. have been looking at the Seagate hybrid 7200.1 4gb of flash memory, 32 mb cache. Any thoughts on this drive ? And again thank you for your thoughts.

Btw, have done clean install, updated no issues so far. An HP blamed this on bad windows update, easier than warranty I guess.

Thanks
