Solved HDD not showing after sleep

Hey 'again'

Bought a new mobo and RAM due to all the BSOD's I've been having *fingers crosses*

Anyway. I use a SSD as my primary HDD with windows on and have a 1TB plugged in as well.

After sleep mode the HDD isn't showing in my computer or disk management. It was with other mobo.

New mobo: Asus M4A79XTD Evo

Anyone got any idea why? Last time this happened (yesterday) I just re-plugged the SATA and windows detected the HDD and all was fine.

Kindly check--->My Computer-- Right click--->Properties---> Device Manager---> Disk Drives.

Just put it back to sleep then turned it back on.

It was not showing in the device manager after I woke it up again.
It was showing before I put it to sleep of course

Let's try this tack which should be pretty conclusive! Tap F2 key while restarting--->BIOS---> Advanced----> look for something like this >(only an example) SATA PORT 0---ST3100333AS-----1000.2GB. Kindly try it!

I am exremely sorry for the delay in responding to your post ! If BIOS RECOGNISES THE HARD DISKS, THEN IT IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM and most probably NOT A HARDWARE ONE (IMO)! (sorry for the bold type)

What did you mean by "delete for bios for me"?

PS: what security software is installed? Kindly let me know. Is the Win.7 firewall switched "ON" or "OFF"

Could be this. Same thing happened to me and the hotfix resolved it.

nevermind the title of the knowledge base article is about STOP errors. That is because the article is addressing this happening to your system drive, which cause a BSOD. That doesn't happen with a non-system disk - it just doesn't appear.

Anyhow the root cause is that large disk drives don't spin after sleep as fast as Windows 7 assumes they would.

You receive various Stop error messages in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 when you try to resume a computer that has a large SATA hard disk

anyhow you could create a restore point and try the hot fix.

Sorry should have made that more clear. 'Delete' is the key for me to press to enter BIOS

But there are a couple of *64, what one exactly is it?
