Hello,
I just installed a seven on my computer and the problems appeared:
When I shut down the computer it closed normally all the services but when the moment of completely close comes it failed, in the manner that the HDD (green WD 1T) starts again, than stops again, than start again and so on.
Can anybody help me with this? (the MB is a gigabyte)

Thanks,

Marian

Hello,
I try to restart and the HDD does the same. stop and start .....

when you try to restart is your computer making it to the bios select screen or does it not go that far. the reason i ask is because i had a similar issue on my laptop thought it was the hdd but turned out the thing decided randomly to kick the bucket even though i hadnt had any problems with it.

It just remains in the windows screen (shutting down) with the HDD starts and stop. For sure there exists a tricky update. The idea is that in the beginning (If I remember well) there were only one problem with the screen saver / stand by the monitor, and I think that this is from the drivers of my MB so, I download from Gigabyte all the available drivers for vista / seven. I installed them and I think that from that moment the problem with HDD appeared. In the end I solved with the stand by, installing last mouse drivers from Microsoft... but I remain with HDD issue.
I tried yesterday evening to uninstall the mainbord drivers and... nothing happen.
All the Best,
Marian

If I was a betting man then I'd bet that either your flashed the wrong bios update or your bios settings are not correct.

Ask one of your techie friends to come over and verify your version and settings.

Oh yes,

WIN | type MSINFO32 | Enter

WIN denotes that key with the funny looking wavy flag.

This will show your bios version and much, much more.

Like previous poster said, check bios settings are correct for sata install because everything will be set back to bios defaults!

Are you using a SATA hard drive?

If you reflashed your bios and you have a SATA drive, you might have to find the correct/updated SATA Driver. They are on the Promise/Silicon Image websites.

Try reinstalling the Sata driver over the top of your present one in case it's corrupted.

The bios update is OK. I take it from Gigabyte, and was functional. The only thing that I can done is to reisntall the SATA drivers for the mainbord, but not with the drivers provide by Gigabyte

In fact the problem is how to reinstall the initial drivers (from the 7 kit) without reinstall all of it...

Thanks

WIN | type devmgmt.msc | Enter key
Right-click on the device where you want to update/delete driver.
Choose Properties
Drivers tab.
Choose the appropriate button from the list given.
If you've got the wrong driver installed, then choose the Uninstall. Exit out of there.
Restart your computer and see if Windows doesn't install a driver for you.

Hello,
Doesn't work as you say but the start was good. It just must to select update the driver and chouse one driver from existing in the system (in my case the existing one (generic driver)) and PROBLEM SOLVED. This means that in this moment the 2 years old Gigabyte drivers are not compatible with seven.
All the best.
