8 Meg ???????????
Hi,

If it's a new hdd you might have to make a new partition on it to make it visible.
If you go to start menu, type in disk management you can open the disk manager and create a new partition or more on your hdd.

Hi

Have a look at this you-tube vid
Other route is to do the following (under admin credentials)

1. Right click on My Computer
2. Left click on Manage
3. Left click on Disk Management
4. Right click on the icon of the HDD (left-pane and not the actual partitions)
5. Left click on Initialize

Hope this helps and Regards

Hi thank you for your reply s very helpful as always, whent in to computer management and it had not been assigned a drive letter ?? why i dont now so just set a drive letter and it was there.
Now just need to know how to raid my 2 Hitachi up. Asus user guide is a waste of time
in computer management there is the opption when right clicking on the 9meg partitions to set mirroring but not on the main partitions can anybody help and in bios i cant find the option for raid am i missing the plot ?

just had a look at sata config in bios but it will only let me set raid on ports 1 to 4 5&6 will only let me set IDE do i have to put the drives i want to raid up on these sata ports?/

As far as I know (somebody might correct me if i'm wrong) you have to set up raid before you install your operating system.

As far as I know (somebody might correct me if i'm wrong) you have to set up raid before you install your operating system.

+1.
You will need to setup your array before installing the OS - aka hardware raid.
It is possible to do the same from within Windows, i.e. software raid, however this could be troublesome. Also Software RAID is available only on Windows 7 Professional and above.
Best approach is to setup the hardware array>reinstall.
Be sure to have the raid drivers for your mobo on removable media during setup, a flash key works fine these days
If you still need to go the software raid approach, have a look at this SF Thread

Hope things work out fine and regards

I had a look at the manual of your motherboard and indeed there's not much mentioned on setting up a raid array, the only thing I could find is how to set the sata ports to raid in chapter 2.3.4 (page 2.8)

I myself use an Asus board and raid too but with Intel chipset, in my case after loading the bios I get an option to setup the raid and choose the hdd drives.
I don't know if that's the same with AMD.

As far as I know the raid drivers are already present in Windows 7 but i'm not sure again if that's the case for AMD as well.
So I agree with Lomai, if there are raid drivers available have them ready on removable storage.

Hi

If the limitation is the chipset on your mobo, i.e. if it does not support RAID, then the only upgrade route would be via an addon card (RAID Controller). :(

Hope things work out fine and regards
