HDMI error

I recently installed windows 7 professional on my Dell XPS 1530 laptop, and when I tried plugging in my hdmi cable to my TV, (using the tv as an external display) it cannot detect the cable. When I go through control panel there is no settings like the windows help was telling me to do. I don't know how to go about making my external display settings work, I would really like to use my HDMI cable for this. Thanks.

i actually solved the problem myself in another thread, the problem was i did not have the right driver for my graphics card. Everything is okay now thanks windows 7 forums!
