I've having problems with my sound what is a direct hdmi cable to hdtv from gpu(5770).
When i usually have sound problems i just uninstall the sound devices reboot and job done.
But i've exhausted every idea i can think of to try and fix it thats why i came here for help.
I've updated drivers uninstalled windows update what i installed today before i realised the audio wan't working, can't restore because i turned it off because it always failed anyway:mad: .
Could there be a problem with the audio on the actual gpu:huh:.
Help much appreciated any troubleshooting solutions etc.
thx

The HDMI portion of your graphics drivers take over sound control when HDMI is used as an output for audio. Consider updating your graphics drivers to the latest 11.4 version (released today) from ATI Radeon.

Might be your card, it might be your cable. I cannot speak to whether audio and video are transmitted on separate pins in the HDMI cable (the first 12 of 19 are reserved for data be it audio and or video but are not specific to either). The easiest way to test is replace the cable. Second would be to replace the card, of course.
