I recently bought a HDMI to HDMI cable and I tried to connect it from a pc monitor to my laptop. I believe this is because my laptop hdmi connection is an output. What would I have to buy to get it to work. A VGA to HDMI converter? Thanks.

If your laptop has an HDMI port then all you need is the cable you've bought...

Should your laptop only have a DVI port then you'll need a DVI-HDMI adapter...

There is no reason for your Monitor to has hdmi out.....
Maybe there is a driver not installed right on your laptop,
Or you have to set the monitor to read the hdmi port....

My monitor and laptop both have hdmi ports. I connect them and my monitor says no signal. Should I turn off my computer or where would I go to download a driver for that kind of thing. Or were in the control panel would I go to get it to recognize.

winnabago111,

Have you tried the Function Keys on your Laptop? I know on my Lenovo, I can switch to HDMI by simply selecting the proper function key. On my desktop, I select the NVIDIA Control Panel (by wrong clicking the mouse on the desktop ("wrong-clicking" is a Michaelism for right-clicking...coz I'm left handed ;)) (not over an icon). Under the Control Panel (of course if you have ATI, it's CCC) you should see the Monitor...You should be able to set it to primary display (or cloned) and use it!

I use HDMI on my desktop to run a Vizio 47" LCD as well as my Dell LCD. I run Hulu on the Big screen whilee I do my "homework" on the Dell...

Good Luck...hope this helps!

My Best,

Michael

Witch manifacturer is it? Witch model? Before you post post's like this, you have to write down some of the specs ;) So, if you can, write down some specs. And driver version, after you've done that, i think i can help you :)

Sorry for my bad english.

Regards, Boje Li

That entirely depends on your output device.
Since you already have a laptop that uses HDMI for its output the additional monitor must be able to accept a HDMI connection.
If your monitor accepts the other enf of your HDMI cable then you are halfway there.
Windows will see the additional output device and install the drivers for your monitor.

My monitor works with the D-sub cable but when I plug in the HDMI to HDMI it says no signal. Are their hdmi drivers or something that I need. It also seems to recognize the monitor but it shows no display. I have an HP dv7 laptop and an LG Flatron W2361V 23inch Monitor.

Open display setting properties and then select HDMI and it will switch on - if you have either ATI or Nvidia display driver then right click of mouse and then select either Nvidia Control Panel or ATI Control Panel and then see for HDMI icon on it - it does work once you enable correct HDMI to HDMI and set TV as HDMI from "Soucre" button

Where in the Nvidia control panel is it. I looked under the HDCP but it said it isnt compatible but that doesn't make sense. Do I have to download a driver or something.
