Just a month ago everything was working normal. But since then... terror!!!
I have a HP Plavillion dv9900us w/
Processor AMD Turion 64 x2
Graphics by NVidia
RAM 3 GB
Hard disk drives 250 GB of memory
OS is Windows 7, installed 6 months ago.
Vista was previous OS (pre-installed).
It doesn't matter whether I am working with text editor, graphic designing or watching a movie or else, the computer shuts down without any clear reason.
It tends to get quite hot and won't start 'till it cools a bit, but after rebooting it says the following:

I did follow instruction from the site so enclosed to this thread there's a .zip file containing whatever information were gathered during the test.

How hot is quite hot? Have you measured the temps? Download and install Speedfan.

Unfortunately, there is no dumpfile. Please follow these instructions:

Be sure to follow step 2 (run as administrator when posting the reports)
Heat, as Carl noted, may be the cause.

How (exactly) hot it gets when it shuts down...
I couldn't say but it's for sure more then 60 Celsius.
Currently the sensors report Air flow at 47 C (116 F); CPU 62 C (144 F).

As for the temperature...I do agree it could be the issue, but the real question is Why it gets warm???? It worked just fine by July 15th. After this date...everything turned upside down.
The fan works just fine, beneath the bottom there are additional three USB fans cooling it (got it after my problems had appeared).

Error code 116, VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE

Two error code 9F, DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

Usual causes: Video driver, overheating, bad video card, ?BIOS, ?Power to card

For troubleshooting puposes, I suggest you unistall AVG antivirus using this tool > Tool (32bit) - Tool (64 bit) If you have AVG Identity Protection installed, uninstall it using this tool > Info > Tool. AVG has been known to cause crashes on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. After you get your system running smoothly, you can try AVG again; but I do not recommend doing so.

Error code 9F indicates a driver problem and you have some out of date drivers on your system. In general, Win 7 does not like old drivers. They can and do cause crashes.

How To Find Drivers:
- I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box below. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads.

Update all of these drivers you can, especialy the video and network drivers. Start with that 2007 driver; it is way obsolete. it is a Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver for VAIO series. If you need help with this, please post back and ask.

Once you have updated these drivers and rebooted, run your system and see how it does. We will go from there.

Meanwhile the computer shut down once again. This time received message which could prove your diagnosis. I am downloading NVIDIA latest driver and after it installs hopefully the problems would be over.
I am not using AVG. Used to trust NOD 32, but turned to Microsoft security.
Will turn to this thread after the download is over. Thanks once again.

Very good to update your NVida drivers. You must have gotten rid of AVG after your last dump because the drivers show up in all three dumps.

Make sure to take care of that 2007 Sony driver.
