Ok so I bought a dell studio laptop 15 and it came with a upgrade disc to windows 7. I updated it and it did everything it needed to do. For some reason now my mcafee virus protection wont install. It keeps saying that my javascript isnt working. I went to install javascript but its still not working I dont know what to do because I cant even log into my email because it wont let me hit the button. Im assuming that it has to do something with the javascript.

Forget McAfee. Use Microsoft Security Essentials - works real well and is free:

And if there is already some McAfee stuff on your system, use the MPCR.exe to remove it:

Im sure it does. You can go to java.com and have them test your installaion on line. We could use some more info abt your computer like 32 or 64bit, what version of win 7 you have installed (7600?)

Suggest you download and install Avast free home version, which is much lighter but just as effective. Don't pay to bloat your Win7.

My operating system is windows 7 64bit home premium. I went to java.com and tested my system and I have installed it and it still wont work.

Few, if any, of the seasoned professionals at this site would suggest that you run McAfee.

If Sun is telling you that your Java install is fine, and McAfee is not playing nicely, ditch McAfee. Too many superior, and free, alternatives.

Im ditiching mcafee but its other issues I notice too. The one that kills me the most is the fact on certain websites the log in button wont work so i cant get past the log in page.

Make sure your Java runtime and Adobe flashplayer are installed; available from their websites.

Check the event log by right clicking computer>manage then browse to Administrative events. Resolve Critical issues immed. Google persistent errors to see what they are, or ask here.

In Device manager look for any exclamation marks signfiying problem drivers/devices.

type CMD in startbox, right click Run as Adminstrator and run "sfc /scannow" without quotes. It will verify every OS file to see they are intact and uncorrupted, the next best thing to a reinstall.

Finally, if I had performance issues not sussed out in events log, or other advanced performance tests you can click through to from Computer>Properties page, I would run my Win7 installer from desktop and do a repair install which saves everything in place but reinstalls the OS under it.
