Hi I need help. I set up my shortcuts to be opened by Adobe reader (by accident). You know how you can left click on an icon and select from the menu OPEN WITH..., well by accident i clicked on a shortcut and selected it to be opened by Adobe reader, And now all my shortcuts in START menu are being opened by Abobe reader . Of course it doesnt work. I dont know how to reverse it... Please let me know how to make shortcuts to be opened by shortcut exe. This is my work computer and it is very annoying that none of the shortcuts work in START menu. I have to actually go to the C drive and find the folder with actual program im trying to use. I tried creating a new shortcut just to see if the new one will work and it would creat it with adobe reader icon. I click on it and it says that it cannot be read.. HELP!!! How do i reverse it??

Hello Alex, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) download in the tutorial below may be able to fix this for you. It restores all default associations for the lnk file extension (shortcuts).

Hi, that didnt help. I downloaded .REG and extracted it to the desktop. Right clicked and selected merge. Restarted PC and ... Same crap.. Any other ideas?

Just to be sure, but did you download the reg or lnk download? It should be lnk.

If it was lnk, then you could try doing a system restore using a restore point dated before you associated Adobe Reader by mistake.
