Solved Help! ALT-F4 not always working to shut down Windows

Hi everybody, i'm new to the forum, i thought someone might help me!
I have an issue with the Alt-F4 shortcut which i use commonly with any pc to shut down the os. While it succesfully close every application i'm working on, it seems to just occasionally show up the popup window to shut down/restart/hybernate/etc the os while i'm on desktop. In other words, sometime it does, sometime it does not, getting me very irritated!
Do someone have the same issue with that?
(BTW, not a matter of life and death..)

Hi, Welcome to Seven forums.

Well, it is not an issue or you are not the only one affected by something from Windows.

Sometimes, when you are working on some program and close that with Alt-F4 and then try to shut down Win with that, it might not work. As, the current window is not the desktop that you want to close.

You can try this. Once you have closed all the programs with Alt-F4 and you are on your desktop, press Windows button (next to Alt) and D. This will take you to desktop and then you can press Alt-F4. You will get the shut down menu. Now you can select whatever option you want to.

I would also like to add sometimes you need to click inside the desktop and then hit alt+f4
