Help connecting the whole thing together.

OK, got a Linksys WAG160N which is currently handling my connection and sends what I want printed to my wireless printer.
Couple of days ago, I got a little gift (thanks to my new provider) a "wifi modem Thompson tg782".

Now to the real issue.. I also have a 50" Samsung hanging in the living room and have wanted to connect it to the network for some time. But now that season is starting and found a great site for HD football, it looks like the time has come.

So, the question is.. could one of the 2 existing modem/routers work as what is described here as an "ip sharer" and receive the media from the other wireless ?

Are you trying to use both of these routers at the same time?

Either way connecting your TV should be simple and I never heard if an "ip sharer" so I guess its generic to them as a router.

Plug your primary router into the internet WAN port of your wireless router using one of four empty slots. Of course you need to keep the primary connected to the modem otherwise you will lose internet but your printing will still work !-)
(You never know who might read this)

It should get an ip from the dhcp of your primary router. Test it by pluging directly into the second router. If the internet works then you can just plug the tv in or configure WiFi.

Basically the whole idea is to watch streamng media on the TV (football games, F1, maybe a downloaded movie that I'm too lazy to transfer to the external HD..etc) So I guess I would need them both working.. One doing the receiving from the internet and the other receiving from the primary and passing it on to the TV.

Upon plugging into the primary (currently the Linksys) would I also install the drivers..etc that are in the installation CD included in the package of say the Thompson (or whichever I finally decide to connect to the TV) and would I have to make some adjustments in the primary's gateway?
Would it be easier to keep the Linksys as the primary and use "Network Magic" (don't know if the Thompson has a similar program) to make the additions to the network ?

Hey brands,

Put the new modem in front of the linksys. I would not enable the wireless features of the new modem. If you want to isolate your network traffic then it would be a good idea to set the new router WiFi and use it for internet while you use the linksys for LAN only traffic.

You should not need to install any drivers or change any settings in your linksys to connect. DHCP should be enabled by default so everything should work. Just make sure you connect from an empty port on your new modem and go into the internet WAN port of your linksys.

As far as the tv it would need to support streaming otherwise you will need a client like XBOX, ps3, or some off the shelf equivalent.

Your network should continue to run normally afterwards.

Bear with me here..

If I place the new modem in front of the Linksys and connect it into the WAN then how do I send the media to the TV without spreading some 15m of cables which is the whole issue ?

TV does support DLNA, actually has a LAN port so I was hoping that one of the 2 (Linksys-Thomopson) could be set up in the living room, receive media from the other wireless and in its turn, while connected to the TV's LAN, allow me to watch it on the TV.

Can this version of the setup work?

I think I understand what your trying to do now. I believe its turning a router into a repeater I'm not 100% sure tho. I don't think off the shelf routers support this.

dd-wrt is a really good router firmware that does.

Does your tv support wireless? What model?

Its the Samsung PS50B650.
Wireless is supported but I'm having a really hard time finding the Samsung Wireless LAN adaptor.. (it only works with the original, I've tried it with others but as the manual states the choice of wireless isn't activated without it.) from my local distributers.. which is why I'm searching for variations of examples 2 and 3 seen in the link of my first post.

I checked both of the routers documentation and neither support repeating from what I read.
