 Surviving with Default display drivers, with weird resolution.

Here's my setup:
HP 4421s probook running Windows 7 home 64bit with an update to AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370

Keep crashing randomly, small freeze then BSOD sometimes with black border BSOD sometimes full screen

Can't run hearthstone without crashing the laptop. Watching youtube is fine though

It is a display related issue. And you are using a Legacy AMD graphics chip.

As it is a laptop, we need to see the system temps before going for any further testing. Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

You need to take the computer to a repair shop. Ask them to open it, dust it, clean it, and most importantly apply new thermal paste to the CPU.

This high temp is enough to cause a graphics crash.

Did some research on my own and found one of those cooling pads online.

I asked my local shop on cleaning the air vents and was quoted $80 for it

So does it meant that the crashing was due to my laptop overheating?

Overheating causes graphics related issues. It is one issue that is a must to control. But we cannot say it at this point that overheating is the only issue here. It might be that the graphics card is failing itself. But, if we stress test the graphics card where the computer is heating that high, it may cause more damages.

We need to see the situation after taking the heat under control. Nothing more can be stated or can be done at this stage.
