Have you tried updating your display drivers, as the error message has suggested you do?

Next, try removing any and all codec packs you have installed, then download and install Shark007's Windows 7 Codec Pack. It may help with DVD playback, but I can't promise anything, as I've never had problems with DVD playback on Windows 7.

FYI, Shark007 is a member here on SevenForums! :D

Sounds like something in your system is failing HDCP:

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some versions of the nVidia control panel has an HDCP status check. Does yours?

Thats reserved for blu-ray.

As far as I know, HDCP isn't used on DVDs or BluRay disks - it's a hardware handshaking feature used to prevent direct copying of digital media. It is invoked when using a digital interface (DVI, HDMI, probably Displayport).

Logically, it would apply to DVDs as well. I can't say from experience whether it is.

Perhaps someone can confirm or deny whether HDCP is used when playing commercial DVDs through a digital interface (DVI, HDMI, Displayport).

corvet786c: What is your monitor? How is it connected to the PC? (DVI, regular HD15 VGA?)

I have the insignia connected thru VGA from video card to 32 inch TV monitor. But all this worked before, just recently stopped working. If I cant fix it I am goin to call Nvidia maybe I didn't download the correct driver, there are so many drivers to choose from with my card. Like I said I can play regular recordable cds's but when it comes to movies etc,

This is the message that always pops up.......

"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card"
