Hi there,

So I've had sudden trouble with my webcam in the last two days, which is kind of irritating because I rely on it a lot. Specifically, when I try to activate my webcam, Windows disables the USB controller its connected to, reporting "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43.)" I've tried the webcam on another computer and had no problems. Disabling/reenabling doesn't do anything, neither does using a different USB port. I've tried the other solutions I've found online, including running the Hardware troubshooter, taking the battery out of my laptop, and unplugging the power for a couple of hours. I've removed the USB controllers, and restarted my computer. My BIOS is most likely up to date (have updated it previously, and its an older machine.) If anyone can suggest any solutions, that would be great.

How about the drivers for the device and the usb controllers? Update the drivers to these devices and see if the issue goes away.

Well I couldn't find updated drivers for either, but I did update my chipset INFs and the problem has gone away. Thanks for the inadvertent help!

Cancel that, its no longer working. My mouse has stopped functioning, as well. I'm wondering if its a loose connection - I'll find out soon when I pull it apart to check on thermal paste.
