Instead of installing Windows 7 64bit Ultimate. (just to resolve the problem with the keyboard)

Why not let us know whats wrong with the keyboard. See if we can resolve it?.

If you really want to upgrade from Home 64Bit to Ultimate, I would advise taking a backup of all your data to another hdd, Then running a clean install.

Real easy, just transfer your data to another hard drive, or partition. Post a shot of disk management.

Why do you mention a keyboard problem ? What does it have to do with this ?

Why do you want to install Ultimate ?

Help us out here.

Yes, but it will carry over any problems you already have, I wouldn`t even think about it without backing up your data. Why didn`t you get the new keyboard yet, or at least try another.

Have you run sfc /scannow yet ?

Upgrading is just that, an upgrade, not a clean install.

What exactly is the Ultimate DVD you have ? Is it an upgrade disc or is it a retail disc or what ?

Josh -

Installing an upper version of Win7 which only offers several costly extra features with the exact same OS, is not ever a solution to a performance problem.

Which extra features is it you need requiring installing Ultimate? Compare Windows 7 Editions - Windows 7 Forums. If you've thought this out and have a legal Ultimate Product Key just insert it in Windows Anytime Upgrade - How to - Windows 7 Forums

It is reckless to not have your files backed up at all times. You can back them up to external, another PC on the network, USB flash, DVD, or the cloud including 7gb free storage for each Windows Live ID on Skydrive

Now explain the keyboard or any other problems so we can help you with them, an entirely separate subject.

okay i was hopeing that upgrading it will fix the keyboard problem

it is an iso downloaded from internet it works as ive used it on 2 pcs

what do you suggest next

Well then, if you`re up to it, and you have the room and knowledge, you could make a 20 GB partition and install Home Premium ( not Ultimate ) to see if the keyboard will work for you. We will be glad to help you.

This is an odd one because a keyboard either works or it doesn`t, and you said it`s NOT wireless, correct.

it is an iso downloaded from internet it works as ive used it on 2 pcs

But how is it activated, where did you get the Product Key for these 2 Ultimate copies you installed?

Have you tried another keyboard? That's the first thing to try.
