Help! I have no paste options in Microsoft Word

I have Windows 10 and originally I had a paste options menu popping up each time I pasted so I could decide which format to use. Now the only option I am ever given is Keep Text only. I have tried resetting the default paste settings, but this makes no difference whatsoever. It makes no difference whether I select Paste on the screen or use Control + v on the keyboard. It makes editing documents so much more time consuming. Has anyone else had this problem and succeeded in solving it?

I'm guessing you mean you have Office 2010 installed and not Windows 10. Until one of our Office experts comes along you could try to repair the Office suite.

Yes I do mean I have Office 2010 (Professional). I completed the repair programme as instructed, but I am afraid it did not make the slightest difference!

This may be a dumb question, but the document you are using wouldn't be read-only, would it?

No it's not read only. I only wish it were that simple! I can edit the documents in every respect and eventually re-format text as I want it. It is just a lot more time consuming than if you can choose the format you want from the clipboard.

An interesting development

Here's an interesting development. Yesterday the paste options re-appeared on two documents I was working on (having NOT been available on the same documents the day before). But by today they had disappeared again from those same documents (and all others). I thought I might try a System restore back to yesterday to see if that would bring the options back again, but since I have had no recent updates, my most recent System restore point is 4 days ago when the paste options weren't available anyway.
I continue to be mystified.....

Is this just Word or is it a more general past problem? You might like to try SFC /SCANNOW as in this tutorial. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
