Hi, all! And, thanks in advance for any advice/info.

Goal: 1. Clean install of W7 Home Premium 64 bit oem to SSD boot drive. 2. Move user files/temp files to HDD. 3. Upon completion of install o/s, steam and firefox on boot drive, have data storage and all other program files on HDD.

Equipment: all new build. 2500k, hyper 212+, asus P8Z68-V/LX, 8 GB (2 x 4)corsair vengeance 1600. ocz agility 3 60 GB sata III, WD Black 1 TB sata III, samsung 22x optical drive sata, HIS 6850 IceQ X turbo, ocz modxstream-pro 700w, 21.5" Dell s2230mx, storm scout case.

Current status: Ready to install o/s: h/w build is complete, cable management complete, boot to UEFI/bios successful with all hardware recognized. ssd on port 0, hdd on port 1. I have read and am familiar with several of the install and ssd tutorials and have searched the forums unsuccessfully. Other than what I've read in this forum, I am unfamiliar with W7. (old system is XP sp3)

Questions: 1. should I use clean install with/from UEFI, or the tutorials for clean install and moving user files, etc during install? Or, all 3? 2. Is it better to move the user and temp files after installing the o/s? 3. After reviewing the equipment, are there any known o/s installation issues, compatibility or otherwise, that are readily apparent?

thank you for reading (and, hopefully, responding to) this long post. :o

Hi Pat -

Here's what you need for UEFI install: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums

You can move the User folders to HD but first I would try setting up folders by the same name on the HD an simply linking them to the relevant Win7 library. This is much easier and still gets everything shown on the Docs, Pics, Music, Downloads, etc. explorer page. Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums

After trying that for awhile if you don't like it you can move the User folders to HD following these steps: User Folders - Change Default Location. This can be difficult process and even harder to change back which is why I gave the easier option for you to try first.
