Help Installing Games on New Laptop

I have been trying for days to install a brand new Sims2 onto my brand new laptop. My OS is Windows 7 Starter.

I have only been able to get to the license agreement install window for the Sims2 before my computer decideds not to respond to anything and freeze.

Also, I have sucessfully installed the Sims1, but it will not run. Any suggestions?

Im pretty computer literate, but not a genuis.

If you pass step one, try to install in safe mode.

Hmmm... If you have Windows 7 Starter, then are you on a netbook? Many new netbooks now include Windows 7 Starter factory installed. If it is a netbook, then you may have to check if your system meets the system requirements of the game.
