Help! Keyboard letters m, b, h, n, u, y, 8 stopped :(

Hello all, I recently bought a Gateway NV5302u (of course MFC) and I love it as it was very inexpensive for its price while being a powerful computer. For some reason, it was bothering me that a little speckle was inside my keyboard and my little spray cleaning gun tool couldn't get the little speckle, so I lacked common sense and got a paperclip and stretched out the sharp side and tried to remove it manually.

After I did this, all of a sudden some of my keyboard letters stopped working. The keyboard letters that stopped working are m, b, h, n, u, y, 8 .

I don't know what to do. I need my laptop and I don't know if there is something I can do to manually possibly reset something that I may have done to the keyboard. Thank God for the Windows 7 on-screen keyboard, and for Dragon naturally speaking program, but I really need to have my keyboard working and not having some of the letters not working really is slowing me down.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know anything I can do to solve this problem. Thanks again for your help and I know it was a stupid dumb headed move that I did but hopefully I can do something to have this fixed. Thanks again everybody!

A damaged keyboard must be replaced. They are not repairable. Call Gateway and you should be able to get it replaced under warranty.

Can I possibly "reseat" it? Maybe pushed something out of place?

If you want to check whether its an issue with Keyborad try the On-screen keyborad see whether your able to type those letter.

did you poke around all those letters

laptop keyboards have a lot of various switches to turn stuff on or off if you press the right combo of keys try pressing you Fn function button down and try the keys that are not working

I think what you have done is damaged the electrical tracks on the keyboard. Do these keys work at all? If only one key was affected, then I would see if indeed it wasn't seated correctly, but since you have keys from each row affected then it seems as though your problem is more serious. I concur with Kari and fireberd in that you need a replacement keyboard. Sorry.

No, none of those keys work at all unfortunately. It's just that I need my laptop and I can't be without it so in the meantime I'm going to have to resort to using Dragon naturally. I wish there was something to which I can just reseat because I'm pretty decent with computers, I just made a boneheaded mistake.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to fix a problem like this? I wish I could just have a chance to fix it myself (if it were that easy) but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working and by pressing the Fn button makes no difference at all. The on-screen keyboard works properly with those keys but on the actual keyboard it simply doesn't work. I will see what I have to do, I'm hoping I can do something to fix it myself, but I still can't believe what I did and hopefully it won't be too expensive to fix it; if anyone has an idea please let me know.
