Hi
Congratulations this is a great forum
I have old machines and several mouse and keyboards with sp/2 , din and serial port
And i like use them sometimes
But Lastest updates win7/8/10 (if you sometime input usb keyboard or mouse in past) disable serial, ps/2 and din ports, mouse and keyboard, into win7/8/10, INCLUDE on boot, do You know why?
I think is the generic driver of chipset and bios of windows for older hardware, that change something in ACPI,
Or
Some Autoexec.bat update change probally.
But i don't know!
I see on internet many people witn the same problem and they can't fix througth update or delete drivers
I think is something on dependency tree instalation drivers
Can You help?
Thanks from Brasil:-)

How do you know that Windows updates are disabling the PS/2 ports?

I use Samba to share my data drive with the other computers at my house and with my guest session in VMWare Workstation Player.
Reboot a couple of times and see if that helps.

But i do reboot many and many times and nothing
Mouse i don't know why works when i installed a logitec driver for mouse and keyboard ps2 that i keep in internet
(Even if mine are not of that brand)
But keyboard nothing ...
Device manager shows keyboard but says error 24
I think is missing driver in the chain drivers since the chipset driver

Something that might fix your mouse and keyboard:
* Turn the computer off.
* Unplug all wires and devices, including AC power.
* Remove the main battery and the CMOS battery.
* Wait 20 minutes.
* Reinstall the CMOS battery and the main battery.
* Reconnect all wires and devices, including AC power.
* Turn the computer on.

After doing the above, you may need to go into the computer's setup to reset the clock and maybe some other settings.

Here is where I found this solution: https://ccm.net/forum/affich-538251-ps2-keyboard-not-working-at-boot
