Solved Help: learning BSOD/debugging

Ok so when i open Windbg file i get this and multiple messages about my debugger not having full symbol information, and or i specified unqualified symbols. and so on. heres a screenshot. Also may i ask what symbols are? I will not attempt to help anyone until i learn more, and watch others solve issues. Trying to learn new stuff

I changed the symbol file path to "SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols"
Now i get less error messages, just its a ton slower. IS it slow because it has to connect to an online symbol location? i dont mind waiting for about 10-20 seconds if so. here is an example of what it looks like. tell me if this is correct. Also what is a symbol?

That looks right to me, some dump files take longer than others, also if you don't have the symbols in that directory, it will download them to the symbols folder from Microsoft.

Ok thanks for the help, one last question. Do you know where i can like get some practice with debugging. I don't want to start helping people, while i am not experienced. I think i will look at solved threads and the such to see if i come out with the same diagnostic stats, as the experts do. Still learning something new, and i dont want to risk harming other peoples computers. so any advice is helpful.
