help me pls...i'm a newbie

hi to all of you...i'm just a newbie here and to windows seven os...i'm actually dual booting with vista...recently,i had installed the os and it is really amazing...well,i just want to know if i need to reinstall all my programs from vista like yahoo messenger,mozilla firefox,limewire...etc???
and also,i have a legal copy of kaspersky anti-virus...do i need to reinstall it to windows seven???thanks...sorry if my english is not that good...

Hi and welcome to the forums.

You can perform an upgrade. Simply boot into Vista x64 and run your DVD, when prompted, select 'Upgrade'.

Keep in mind that an upgrade is not as effective as a 'clean' install, but it should work.

In dual booting u need to install most of things although some of them may work from the program files of Vista but most of them u need to install it again under windows 7 or else as Captain Zero said u can upgrade ur Vista OS or Clean install 7

Or you can use the easy transfer tool to move from the old OS to windows 7.
see here for more on it. I use it all of the time to upgrade vista/win 7 beta to RC. It gives you the best of both worlds... clean install and apps/ data transfer.

Reinstalling everything can be a pain in the ass, but on the other hand, it is healthy to reinstall everything every so often. It cleans up a lot of messes and increases performance and reliability... it also allows you to migrate to a different system (like OpenOffice.org instead of MS Office). It also makes sure you have the most recent versions and updates.
