Howdy,
After installing Intel Management Engine Components on my laptop, the name is shown as "Intel(R) Management Engine Components" in Add or Remove Programs.
I wanna change it to "Intel® Management Engine".
So I have created a .reg file as follows:

*
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3443910272-680828281-3805887909-1000\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MuiCache\ED\52C64B7E]
"@C:\\Program Files\\Intel\\Intel(R) Management Engine Components\\Lang\\Resource.dll,-20000"="Intel® Management Engine"
*

The code works on my current OS and if I re-install the same Windows 7 or another Windows, it won't work since with each installation "S-1-5-21-3443910272-680828281-3805887909-1000" will change!
So how can I change the above .reg file to dynamically detect that changing path and apply my code?
No different if continue using .reg file or change it to .bat.
Any help, please ?! :)

Uhm, isn't the registry for every machine unique to that machine?
Besides that, you are attempting to rename a registered trademarked application.

Thanks friends, I was not looking for legal advise, just trying to rename without removing (R):
From:
Intel(R) Management Engine Components
To:
Intel® Management Engine
This is not illegal to just change the name shown in my Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

This task is not important, I just wanna learn in the similar scenario how to do it since on each Windows installation:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3443910272-680828281-3805887909-1000

Be careful about diddling within Windows Prime. You might find yourself, after enough diddling, reaching either for your restorable backups or your Windows install DVD because Windows suddenly become nonGenuine and/or un-authenticatable.

...in fairness to the OP, when a few of us were much younger, and we had DOS 3.3 and Windows 3.1, we diddled within command.com and altered a few of the display outputs. Naturally, our "command.coms" were sealed shut and never again saw the light of day.

I think you're going to have a write a new REG-file, or, reRegistryEdit, using the new code.
BTW, I use Resplendence's Registrar Registry Manager [with great care! I might add], there's free and fee versions.

There might be a way via BATCHfile: echo and/or | and/or < and/or > combinations thereof...it's been so long ago. Lemmie see if I happen to have some old batchfiles put together by others that you might be able to reverse-engineer, forward-engineer.

Why is that any different than this?

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/46692-system-support-information.html
It might be different. It might be the same. Some changes mentioned in that tut might go against an agreement between the user and the manufacturer (e.g. an agreement could state that the support info must remain as is). Depending on what is changed - it might go against the Madrid Protocol. Changing Dell to DellSpys could be a libelous statement if presented to the public (e.g. via a kiosk). In addition to getting charged with libel, I would expect the charges to include changing a Registered Trademark.

The chances of the OP getting caught by Intel (and Intel caring) are miniscule. Determining one's ethics based on the probability of getting caught is a matter of personal integrity. That said, I'm not qualified to cast the first stone.

If the OP wants to change the reg key for all existing users, then I would think that a script (VBS, PowerShell, AutoIt, AHK...) would be needed to enumerate the user SIDs. However, the first paragraph in the first post mentions "Add or Remove Programs" (Programs and Features?) and yet the reg file deals with where files are found. Has the OP already renamed that folder within the filing system?
