Solved Help! my new laptop takes forever to turn off!

Hi, I recently bought a new laptop from samsung model number RC512.
My laptop worked just fine until like 2-3 weeks after use.
It takes about 3-4 minutes to turn off.
it used to turn off in like 15 sec. but now its taking forever.
My guess is that a little game that I played caused this problem.
here are my specs.

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.
System Model: RC512
BIOS: AMIBIOS Version 00FN.M034.20110511.SSH
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 6144MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 6056MB RAM

We need you to fill out your System Specs and here is how:
Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use SIW or Speccy or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

Try opening an administrative command prompt and stop the Windows Update service (i.e. net stop wuauserv). If it takes forever to stop, that's your problem. If it stops immediately, then it's not and I suggest you start it again by net start wuauserv.

If Windows Update is the problem then you have to stop wuauserv, delete the contents of C:\Windows\Software Distribution folder, and re-check for Windows Updates and install them.

Clean up factory bloatware, most importantly turn off the programs which may be starting up and leeching CPU/RAM, slowing Startup and Shutdown and can spy on you.

Next work through these troubleshooting steps.

Yes, It says 'shutting down' and shows little circle spinning around

I've tried it and it takes about 2 sec. to turn it off. so I'm assuming its not the problem.

If you hold down the power button does it shut down quickly ?

You could use that method until you figure out what`s causing the problem.

Have no fear. You have disabled nothing. You have told MS not to run those programs at startup time.

If this doesn't cure the problem, them there are further steps you can take.

You are going to continue to have problems if some of them are not removed.

You are hell-bent on self destruction with some of those programs.

I also do not see any anti-virus/anti-malware software installed.

Immediately, download, install and use Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).

Use no other AV sofware. That is the only AV software that I use, the only AV that I install, the only AV I recommend.

AHA. OK, here's my idea. I might be completely off-track with this, or it could be the very reason for your long shutdown time.

There's a registry setting that allows you to clear the page file during shutdown, which incidentally takes a few minutes (and is normally pretty useless). It will keep doing this until you turn the setting off.

Run regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management, then look for a REG_DWORD entry called ClearPageFileAtShutdown.
Is this value set to 1? If yes, you have found the problem. Change it to 0 and exit the registry editor.

Take a look at his installed programs.

Agreed (it was a long shot anyway). I didn't really see that huge list of installed software until after my previous post. *picks up own jaw from the floor*

It didn't solve the problem. what are the further steps?

I do have kasperski anti-virus program installed that came with the laptop
Could this program somehow caused this problem?
cause I remember that this issue began soon after I activated the program.

Configuring Kaspersky to be efficient can be problematic.

until problem located, then 100% remove kaspersky. Install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials). Link in my tab.
