Help Needed - After I installed SP1, Windows Update Stops Working.

Hi,

Yesterday I realised that Windows Update wasn't working on my Windows 7 Ultimate N (32-bit) laptop.

It sometimes found updates but then when I selected them and tried to download them it just hung on 0 kb and 0%.

I uninstalled SP1 and Windows Update worked fine. Then , when reinstalled SP1 Windows Update stoped working - it just hangs while it says its looking for updates.

I have used two tools to try to fix it - Windows Update Diagnostic and Microsoft FixIt 50202. Neither have worked...

Any ideas??

An hour maybe?

I bit the bullet and did a fresh install and went to 64 bit.

All went well until I installed SP1. It installed ok then another update appeared, installed that. Then I remember I looked for updates again and was told Windows had to install an update in order to search for more updates. Then it seems to hang, apparently searching but doing nothing???

I had a machine that took an hour last night. It happens sometimes. I don't know why, but I've learned to live with it. I think MS servers have been slow lately as well.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file
