The deny permission is a very powerful one as it overrides any allow permissions and when applied to everyone with full control may be impossible to reverse.

Your best bet will be to enable the hidden full administrator account and try to reverse your actions from within safe mode.

as a last option you could try to use a 3rd party tool to change the format of the drive to something other than NTFS without deleting the data - that should remove all permissions re-converting to NTFS and manually applying correct permissions is then a possibility.

   Warning

Any errors during this procedure will almost certainly trash the data on the disk

depending on the value of the data involved and your level of expertise you may want to contract this work to a recovery company which will incur, (maybe considerable), costs.

I would probably use the latest from Paragon myself, as that is the software I am used to but any of the major developers such as Acronis would have suitable packages - these would be the commercial packages.

PARAGON Software Group - partition manager, drive backup, hard disk partitioning
Backup software for data backup and disaster recovery in Windows and Linux - Acronis

   Note

The first thing that you should do is to make a partition image of this problem partition, to a separate drive , preferably external, so that you can recover to at least this point if the worst happens.

I would also do the same for the other partitions - just in case

Did you attempt the conversion from within windows? this will apply the restrictions to acronis as this is running under your ID.

This type of repair attempt must be performed from outside windows you will need to create the boot disk option that should be available to you.

One other thing is also of critical importance here - the space requirements of FAT32 is far greater than that for NTFS format due to architecture differences between the formats - you will need a fair amount more free space on the partition to accommodate the same amount of data under FAT32.
