Loads fine on IE8 as well. I have used it on many machines? Are you behind any kind of firewall or web filtering through work, etc? Try flushing your DNS cache? ipcponfig /flushdns froma command prompt.

I was wondering this too, but I don't think it is. It doesn't look like a forum that profits from anything like spam postings. I read the Site Rules and the Forums are free.....

One thing that could be blocking it as well that no one has mentioned is the hosts file. if you navigate to Windows/System/Drivers/etc/hosts

Check this file and see if anything is in there. you might be using a custom hosts files as well (as some people do this to block ads and spam)

Good looking Forum too....

Hi Desslok,
i type in ipconfig at command prompt, but not sure how to 'flush DNS cache'..i type' flushdns', but it show ' the system cannot find the path specified...

type in "ipconfig /flushdns" all on one line.

You can also type in "nslookup www.eng-tips.com" and see if it comes back with an address. If it does, then DNS is not the problem... (Address should be 216.45.19.36)

I should have said this in my last post but try doing a "ping 216.45.19.36" and see if the pings come back ok or fail.. That'll test if the site is being blocked from your location.

Well, something is blocking that address between you and the site.

This is a fairly common problem, and though the site iteself may be innocent, that address may have been used for spamming or part of a bot net or something and got blacklisted. Which is good at this point. But once on a black list site addresses almost NEVER come back off. So then the problem site dissapears and someone else comes along and registers a new domain and they get handed the "bad" address. Kind of like when you get a new phone number and it turns out that it used to belong to a pizza joint and you get calls all night long for pizzas...

It seems /most/ likely that the block is external to your computer/laptop but to test you sould have to try getting to the site from another mahchine on the same network or taking that machine to a different location. I.e. see if the block follows your machine specifically or follows your location. Not sure how much of that is possible for you...

...When i type in 'nslookup www.eng-tips.com' ...
When I click the link above it fails for me until I remove the single quote at the end. I use HOST file blocking and it still works fine (w/o the quote). Try unplugging and plugging back in your router and switch. Try rebooting if it still doesn't work.
