Hello all

I have upgraded to Win 7 and the graphics will not install properly.
Its an AGP Radeon X1650 card.
I can't find a driver for it from ATI and was wondering if the fix some have done for other graphics cards (3850) will work on this?
Any ideas please? Also how do i do it please?

Cheers GRiff

ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver

Hi.

Install that. Here's how:

Extract to C:\ATI by running it. Close the installer when the extraction is complete.

Right click standard vga in the device manager. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Double click on the .inf and hit ok. Maybe have to hit next, then let it install.

Reboot after it's done installing.

OK mate i'll give that a try when i finish work.
Thanks very much for your assistance it is very much appreciated.
Could the problem be because it is 64 bit Win 7? A friend of mine thinks there have been problems with the 64 bit version

All the best
Griff

You're welcome.

No, it should be fine on x64. I did point you to the wrong driver though.

Here's the x64 one.

Install the same way I said to above and see how it goes.

If it doesn't install, let me know. I'll tell you what we can do to make it.

Hi mate

No joy i'm afraid. Downloaded that driver and tried to install as above but wouldn't recognise it as a 64 bit driver. I've attached a pic of it.

I tried the catalyst centre too but that made it worse than it was before so put driver back to version 8.593.100.0
This plays COD Modern warfare 2 at lowest settings but starts to stutter when theres alot happening on the screen. It won't play need for speed at all

Cheers Griff

Rar or zip the .inf you're using to install. Then attach it to a post using the paperclip.

Also, right click the video card in device manager. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste the results here too.

I'll edit it so it installs.

Heres the bits you requested mate. When i download the 64 driver there are several inf files to choose from. I have tried them all and none install.

Cheers Griff
