help needed

Hi All,
Computer idiot here needs help, silver surfer has bought a smart phone and wants to use it to browse the web etc by using my wireless modem, this works ok but then stops when my pc shuts down of its own accord.
I do not put pc into sleep mode when its doing this but it must be on some sort of internal timer, can anybody please help.

go into control panel/power options and change your sleep settings. ( scratch that )

But, your pc going to sleep, should have no affect on the phone surfing the web. In fact your pc doesn`t even have to be on.

I got a xbox , wii, psvida, 2 laptops , 3 phones, roku3 ,all hooked up to wifi .with my main comp on or off it still works
is it a laptop with a usb wifi ?

If its a laptop your having this problem with you may wanna check and be sure that its not setup to allow connections to the internet through the laptop instead of the wireless router

Hi,
This might answer your question:
-If you want the computer to stay on go and click on the right hand power icon on the bottom left and click more power options.
-Then click change plan settings.
-Then set all of the ones you want to not happen to "never" then click save changes.

It sounds to me like the smart phone is getting internet access through your PC and not through the modem. The modem is always on, and if internet connection is through the modem, it will not matter if your computer is on or not.

Or are you shutting down the modem when you shut down the computer.
