Hi,

I'm new to this forum, new to windows 7 and new to the BSoD.

I don't know much about any of this but I am learning fast!

Quick rundown - tried to install windows 7 32bit on a newly built system. No previous windows - professional build of system.

Windows 7 install ok but for some reason or another I always encounter a BSoD pretty soon after install. I have tried downloading catalyst 9.11 - BSoD soon after. Have tried installing catalyst 9.11 as per torrentg's thread (sorry for not adding the link).
Have tried using windows recommended drivers
Have tried installing with recommended updates - have tried installing without recommended updates.

I have been reading heaps the past 5 days but can't determine why my computer is not running properly.

Basically, pretty much after install and updating graphics drivers, I get a restart which states that an error occured during shutdown and I have the option to restart in various safe modes or restart windows normally. Restarting windows normally NEVER works and if I let it go, it will stay on a continual restart cycle.

I have tried to repair through the install CD - windows can't detect a problem.

I have done numerous clean installs with various methods - the best I have got is a good 3 hours of computer time with no bluescreen.

I am at the end of my rope and have no idea what to do from here.

I am hoping I have attached the latest two dump files correctly (I followed the tute on here that is how much of a novice I am!)

Thanks if you have got this far...

Nina-Jay (a very frustrated lady)

Hi. Let's see if we can rid some of that frustration for ya, heh?

This needs to be updated for the audio driver:

RtHDMIV RtHDMIV.sys Thu Dec 25 04:30:18 2008

amongst a few other things.

What you can do is to download all the drivers you see on this page and install them. You can skip the bottom SATA ones. Just install audio, chipset and lan. Should be fine after, but if not, post another crash dump as before.

Enjoy.

Thanks so much for your quick response (I was hoping you would answer as I have seen many of your posts on here where you have resolved issues :D)

Before I go and do that would you suggest I do a clean install? (I am currently in safe mode as windows wont start normally)

If I do a clean install what order should I install all the drivers? Does it matter?

I have found the problem of catalyst not installing properly when I have tried it but installing the driver only seems to work fine.

Sorry if I sound like a twit, I just want to get it right this time around so thinking I should start with a clean slate and get everything in the right order

No need for a clean install...yet at least.

Boot to safe mode + networking. Download the audio driver and run it. It will probably extract a folder somewhere on the pc. Close the installer after this happens and don't let it continue.

Go to device manager and right click on the audio device for your computer (Realtek Azalea HD or similar.)

Update driver software. Browse my computer. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Now navigate to the folder you extracted and double click on the .inf inside. Hit ok. Hit next. Let it install.

When done, reboot to normal mode desktop and re-install the driver in the normal method simply by running the original downloaded file and letting it complete.

If everything is going well, install the other drivers too and then reboot.

Let me know how far you get with this or how it's going.

Luckily, I anticipated this and downloaded the driver myself to see already.

Try with the HDARt.inf file inside Realtek\WDM folder. Or if that doesn't want to install using the method I said, try others in that folder until it does. Then boot to normal and install normal, no device manager.

So far so good!

I am not holding my breathe (have been holding it for days everytime it 'looks' like the issue has been resolved) but this time really looks like it has been fixed!

I'll keep you updated if I encounter any problems.

Thank you so much for your help! I'll make sure I change this to resolved if nothing bad happens in the next couple of hours.

Great.

But like I said, now that you're in normal mode, reinstall the audio driver in the normal way without the device manager.

And also install the others I said as well.

Enjoy and continued good luck! :D

Use a system restore point to before you did WU.

Did you already install the other drivers from the motherboard page?

This has never been updated - RtHDMIV RtHDMIV.sys Thu Dec 25 04:30:18 2008 - so install the audio driver again as for all of them from the page.

It's good to never use WU to install any drivers.

I installed the drivers as you said (not using windows update) but then I did turn auto updates on AFTER installing the drivers from the page you gave me. I am going to do them all again and leave windows auto updates off from now on (is that a wise move?).

Will get back to you when I have done it all again. It was working perfectly prior to turning on auto updates :(

ok system restore to point before WU was turned on came up with bluescreen and wouldn't allow me to start windows normally. I won't post the dump file as it will probably say the same thing.

Just an aside, I get an AMD data change message everytime I start the computer. Not sure if the two relate.

Working really well for a time - started to get confident and downloaded a few things (firefox, thunderbird, iTunes and avast). On the avast reboot, I had another BSoD

I installed all the drivers from the motherboard page and it included the ATI catalyst driver. Is the dump file still showing they are not installed?

I installed them directly from the extracted files.

I will uninstall avast now but still not sure why I need to reinstall the motherboard files you included in your original post???

Thanks for your help and your patience :)

Download the video card driver from ATI's site, nowhere else. They have the latest and best driver to use.

This file keeps on appearing:

So instead for audio, install this since it's latest and new:
