I just bought a Toshiba A505-6033 laptop. It came preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Premium. Having had Windows XP until now and for game compatibilities issues i decided to try to install XP too on this laptop. This is how I came to this forum and read thoroughly through it.

Seeing that Method 2 applied for me, I made a partition for XP(from within 7), had my XP bootable CD ready and restarted. The system booted from the XP-cd, and about 5 min later got a blue screen. Some generic error, check for viruses, hard drive etc. The laptop is new, no problems with the hard drive. The thing is that the installation doesn't even get to the point where you get to tell it on which partition you want it installed. Tried this few times and got frustrated.

Any idea what to do?

I meant Method 2 in the previous post. Having the 7 preinstalled...

Is it possible that XP has some compatibility issues with some laptops?

looking forward to getting some help.

The only time I have see a blue screen when trying to install XP was when the Drive was set to use AHCI for SATA drive, so you might check the bios setup then under hard drive configuration and it should show possibly IDE, AHCI, and RAID, but this depends on your bios.
