Help Please!

Hi so ive got windows 7 installed ok,i have been running driver detective and it tells me i need this driver...Standard AHCI 1.0Serial AtA Controller,my question is do i really need this driver?
Help would be much appreciated.

The short answer is no. If you are not having problems, obviously the driver is not critical.

It can't hurt to install it. Just remember to create a restore point first.

When i installed it before though,i use active smart to keep an eye on all aspects of my hdd health and temp,when i tried this install before though the active smart reports just went ti~s up,i mean after installing this driver active smart could not read its temp,spin up count,etc,it said hdd health was low,all red writing,which is why i wonder if i really need this driver?you say no if all is well,im using microsofts 2006 driver for this,think i will go with your reply and just ignore this driver,especailly if its of no real benefit to my system,thankyou very much for your time and reply.

No problem. Generally speaking, if it's not obvious you need a driver, it probably doesn't need to be updated.
