When I open task manager Under Processes Tab I have about 23 Processes that I can see running but when I look at the bottom it says Processes: 47 which is surprising considering I only counted 23 is this normal?

Some of the processes might me hidden. If you want to see all of them in a better view, you can check out this program. It is real small and very detailed: Process Explorer

Do you have the "show processes from all users" checked?
